Two Babies, Three Rooms

When we found out we were having a couple of babies, we had to get crackin' on re-vamping a few rooms in the house.  And by we, I mean Daniel.  Bless his heart - he worked so very hard to get everything ready for the girls, which included painting and decorating three rooms.

The most important room: twin girl nursery!  I spent lots of time pinning nurseries and ideas that I liked.  I'm a girly girl and love all things pink.  I wanted to have a tasteful nursery, though, and wanted a fun pop of color.  I kept falling in love with aqua/pink combos, so that's what we did!  Daniel painted the walls Surf City, and we accented everything in pink.  Here's the finished product!
A common question we're asked is "do you have two cribs?".  We sure do, and look how amazing those monograms are!  And ironically, Ella now sleeps on the left and Sydney sleeps on the right.
Funny story about those cribs.  Well, it's funny now, it was frustrating for a long time.  The crib on the left is the original crib we purchased.  The crib on the right is the fourth crib we purchased.  What happened to the first three, you ask?
#1 - two pieces of the crib were stuck together, so Daniel had to pull them apart and the finish came with it.  We can't have our ladies sleeping in a jacked up crib; returned.
#2 - we put together the crib they sent us to replace the damaged one, and it was different from the existing crib.  You see, apparently cribs are manufactured in different places, and for whatever reason, that means they aren't 100% alike.  In this case, the screw holes were off so the mattress was about 4-5" different from the existing crib.  Now, for most people - that's not a big deal.  When you have twins with two cribs side-by-side, something like that is pretty noticeable.
#3 & #4 - Babies 'R Us hates us.  They also have terrible customer service.  Anywho, they ordered two cribs hoping to get one in the same production lot as our existing crib.  After four tries, we have two matching cribs!
of course - each lady has to have a hairbow stash

love, love, love their room!  Daniel gave me  the cute chevron glider for Christmas, and we've filled the photos on their gallery wall.  I spy: a baby (S) getting her diaper changed.

After Daniel finished the nursery - painting the walls & trim, painting two beautiful but very intricate monograms, painting picture frames and pedestals, and putting four cribs together - he moved onto the playroom.  We turned our office into Twin Central Station.  Starting out as a catch-all for all things baby, and it will slowly evolve into a true play room and eventually an older kids hangout.  I love how it's turned out!
freshly painted, toys stocked, and all ready to bring two babies home!

Carseats ready :)
Lesson learned/Rookie move: those carseat inserts are dumb.  A carseat is made to keep a baby safe, no matter how small.
two pack 'n plays and two bouncers - ready to have screaming babies occupy them
Lesson learned/Rookie move: add bed risers to your pack 'n play, so you don't hurt your back bending over to change babies.

And finally, after Daniel put together Ikea furniture, hung roman shades, painted walls and trim, and purchased a couch - it was time to move onto the girls' bathroom.  We painted the walls a light gray, and my amazing mom created a shower curtain and curtains.  You see, sometimes I get ideas from Pinterest (or out of my ass), and they are off-the-wall and things that you can't find in a store.  After finding the PERFECT monster fabric, my mom made my monster-bathroom dreams come true.

I LOVE monsters, and think they are adorable.  If we were having boy/girl or boy/boy twins, their room would have been cute little monsters, but since we ended up with two precious ladies, we made them a girly monster bathroom!  I am thrilled with how it's turned out.

So since my job was to bake our twins for as long as possible, which meant I had to sit down & eat, all of the baby-preparations fell on Daniel's shoulders.  He worked his guts out to make so many of my pinterest-inspired ideas come true.  He put so much love and hard work into making our home into a fun place to raise babies.  I most certainly hope he knows how much I love everything he did, his dedication to our girls, and that his hard work didn't go unnoticed.
