June Bugs

We came home from The Bay and did our usual - feed the girls and watched Friends.  We were only a few episodes away from the series finale, so we settled in and finished it up.
Sink family selfie post-Friends finale
I've said it before and I'll say it again - one of our favorite memories of itty bitty, sleep deprived, newborn state of having twins is watching Friends together.  I'll never forget these times - watching Friends with my very best friend and new-doubled-in-size family at 3 am.

The girls also turned 9 weeks old!

So Ella ignores her, haha
And here's Sydney - in all of her sleepy glory

After we finished up Friends and a brief photo shoot, Daniel started fixing dinner.  We realized we didn't have an ingredient, so I ran to the store.  It was just about to storm, but I figured I would be quick.  I was standing in line waiting to check-out, and we heard a huge clap of thunder.  A minute later, our next door neighbor called to ask me if I was home, because she was pretty sure lightning just struck our house.  Cue heart attack: Daniel was at home with the girls.  And that clap of thunder?  That was it.  I rushed home to find our cul-de-sac neighbors in our yard looking at:
That.  Lightning struck a huge tree in our back-yard.  Thankfully, everyone at home was safe.  We lost quite a bit of electronics - washer, routers, computer, vacuum etc.  But everyone was safe.  Our home was fine.  Those other things can be replaced, a nuisance, but replacable.  Oh, and another thing - the next day we discovered lightning struck TWO trees.  The second tree is another big one that we used to string patio lights over the deck.  So crazy.

We started bathing the girls together in a regular bathtub at the advice of another awesome twin mom, Lisa.  She bathes her twins, Hollis & Mary-Grace, in a regular bathtub.  They are 3 weeks younger than the girls, so I figured I would try it.  The baby bath-tub we've been using on the kitchen counter was big and awkward, and I was always so nervous about the slippery little wiggle worms.  The first try didn't go so well, but the second went so well.  We now bathe the girls together all the time, and they LOVE it!  They touch each other, try to lick up the water, and love the warm water we pour over their tiny bodies.
Ella started out fussy, and calmed right down and scooted next to her sister

does it get much cuter than that?  love Ella's little dimple and Sydney's big wide eyes
Our girls do a lot of "twin" things, and I love to soak it up.  They love to touch and be near each other.  They used to sleep with their heads at opposite ends of their cribs and would slowly scoot down towards each other.  We recently flipped them so their heads are together at the center, and they don't move an inch, and seem to sleep better.  Amazing the bond they share.
After their bath, we put them a few inches apart in one of their cribs:

And they scooted right up next to each other, so they were completely touching.  Then of course, Ella had to start eating Sydney's hand.  Typical Ella.

Then we watched Matthew graduation from high school!  It's so crazy - when Daniel and I started dating, Matthew was 7 years old.  Seven.  Now he's a handsome and awesome 18 year old graduate.  He is going to VT in the fall (finally, a Hokie!), and we couldn't be more proud.  He is going to thrive there!

Every now and then, we have a tiny baby or two show up in our bed.  Sometimes, they're just too sweet not to snuggle :)  And, when you are a SUPER sleep deprived momma and daddy, you just need 20 more minutes!

June was jam-packed with more fun things - too many fun pictures for one post!  :)
