Fancy Princess Photo Shoot: September 2018

I know that we took these pictures almost 9 months ago, but you gotta give a princess mom a break, ok?  It's hard raising two little princesses AND update the blog at the same time.

Anyway, I'm currently sitting in the waiting room of the Virginia Urology surgery center while my sweet, amazing husband gets his man parts snipped.  That's right folks, it's happening because our family feels complete.  We both came to this conclusion (separately) when we were deliriously happy when our beautiful twins were about 6 months old.  We would do continuous "pulse checks" every few months and say "do you feel good about our family? do you have a desire to have more?" and each and every time, our answer was the same - we feel good about our family.  I can't explain it other than it just feels right.  When we found out we were having two at once, everything we had planned out went out the window (and that's hard on someone like me who is such a planner).  We actually had thought at one time we may have three children.... and then after Ella and Sydney, all was right with the Sinks.  When you have two kiddos at once, they do everything together - eat the same things at the same time, play with the same toys, go to bed and wake up together, go to school together, etc.  One unintended but awesome consequence of that is that Daniel and I get to do everything together, too.  We aren't separated with one kid here and the other kid there... we are always together.  And I really love that.  And it felt off thinking about adding another... and would that kid be a third wheel?  And that meant we were all separated doing different things at different times.  And would that mean we should have a fourth to accompany the third wheel?  But girl, four kids is insane.  So here we are - still feeling deliriously happy and content with what our family is.  And Daniel is sacrificing his man bits ;)

And here we are back to these pictures.  I really wanted to have a session to capture the essence of the sweet and beautiful and innocent age of three.  Ella and Sydney love princesses, tutus, and all things fancy.  We found a photographer who uses the Branch Museum (an architecture museum), and the girls thought it was Elsa's castle.  We ALL got fancy, and spent the afternoon twirling and giggling.

a few small details

fit for some queens!

... the face of two parents who SURVIVED a princess photo shoot.  Holy Cow - that was hard.  It was hot... they couldn't climb up the stairs with their long tutus (and we went up and down and up and down), and it was hard to get them to pay attention... but our sleeping beauties were down for the count.

Cheers!

Not only are Ella and Sydney princesses, but they are also amazing and brave and strong and incredible little girls.  They bring joy and happiness to us and everyone around them.  Daniel and I can't wait to see what they grow up to be one day, but while we watch this journey unfold, we will do our best to soak it all in, and tell them each and every day how much they are so, so loved.  And how they came as an amazing set - one that we didn't know we needed, but it's absolutely everything we could have ever wanted and needed all wrapped up into a package that made our family complete.
