Lucky Seven

On October 30th, the girls turned 7 months old.  First of all - I saw this every month - but when the heck did that happen?  I mean holy cow universe, can you slow down just a little?  But anyways, seven months.  Lucky seven.  I can't help but think about how incredibly lucky we are.  Number one, it's pure luck that we've managed to keep two babies alive for this long.  How have we not dropped them, kept them fed and [relatively] clean, and breathing?  Not only are we all surviving, but we are so happy.  At the end of most every day, I go to bed with a smile on my face.  I think about Sydney waving her arms in the air like a crazy banshee and Ella looking away because she get so shy when she smiles, and I can't help but smile myself.  When we get out of bed in the middle of the night to go pop in a paci or ask Sydney very nicely to please be quiet and tell me her stories in the morning - we're still smiling.  Sleepy, but smiling.  I think to myself - we must have done something right to deserve this.  We've certainly hit the jackpot.

Anyways, enough of that sappy stuff.  The girls are amazing.  Every day they are so much fun and continue to grow and develop and amaze us.

We are very slowly working our way into baby food.  It was extremely unsuccessful at home.  Ella would purse her lips together, and Sydney would just push it out with her tongue if she wasn't pursing her lips together.  Seriously, how hard can this be?  Hard.  Finally I said hey daycare, why don't you try?  Well, it worked like a freaking charm.  They split a container of baby food at lunch every day.

They roll and roll and roll.  They reach for something and scoot to get to it.  They no longer stay on the nice, plush, perfect floor blanket.  They get onto the carpet and try to reach into the toy bin.  They interact with each other - looking, laughing, talking.  It's so, so cool to watch them interact.

They are so close to sitting up we can taste it.  Ella leans forward and hangs out there for a while until she gets tired.  Sydney sits up straighter and falls to the side easy.

Sydney wants every single toy that's not in front of her.  She hoards them all in front of her.  If Ella has a toy, she gets it.  If Ella has a pacifier in her mouth, Sydney takes it and pops it into hers, or waves it in front of Ella's face.  Ella rolls with the punches (literally - when Sydney wacks her in the face, Ella is relatively content about it).

Daniel LOVES to pick them up from daycare.  They are so happy to see him.  Daniel will grab a toy out of Sydney's hand, and she gets PISSED.  Then she realizes he's there to get her, and she instantly lights up.  They aren't as happy to see me when I walk in the door because often times they are snoozing.  Poor momma.

Anyway, let's see those beautiful 7-month olds!

Remember how I told you they are really close to sitting up?  Well, they're close.  As in not there yet.  We had too much confidence in them, and thought we could get a picture of them sitting up.  It ended up with Sydney falling off the box.  Abort mission.  Let's try that next month.

this was RIGHT before Sydney took a nose dive.  Sorry girlfriend.

I love how Sydney is looking at Ella

Being a twin parent means you do a lot of refereeing.  This is happening way sooner than I thought, but cue the "please don't hit your sister with the letter S"

our two bundles of absolute joy!  smiling, happy, gorgeous.
Ella & Sydney - you'll never, ever know how much joy you bring to us.  We're so, so, so lucky.
