Sun & Sand Weekend

Sun & Sand... sounds relaxing.  Well, gone are the days of laying out, reading books, and not having a care in the world.  Insert one-year old twins.  Kind of last minute, we decided to check out Yorktown Beach for the day, and use it as a good "dry run" for our beach vacation.  The good news - it went awesome, and despite taking a lot of stuff, the girls did so good.  Annabeth & Georgia met us there, and I'm glad they did because it took all four adults to get set up and wrangle babies.  We had so much fun :)

Grandma Georgia feeding Sydney a snack

Lesson learned: snack on a blanket, so babies don't drop goldfish into the sand and then try to eat them

The girls sat next to the water in the sand and played for a good hour and a half to two hours.  It was so fun, and I loved watching them enjoy it (and not eat sand... that was a miracle in itself).
love this view :)

After lunch, we got the sand removed from our shoes and inside our bathing suits and attempted a nap.  Keyword: attempted.  Lesson learned for our beach vacation: nap inside the house.
not napping, but not crying either

the girls laughed and laughed and laughed at each other... stealing pacifiers and just playing together

After the nap was unsuccessful and we were all hot, we decided to just head on home.  We weren't too far from home when I had the crazy idea to go to the pool after eating a snack to wash off all the sand.  What better time than now to wear our THIRD bathing suit for the day, and our very first bikini?!
I heard them laughing hysterically and peeked around to see them sharing their PB&J

genius idea: floats in baby pool
Cue the most adorable bikini babes:

we've been working hard on our bikini bods!

how did we get so lucky?
What a fun Saturday!  We all slept so hard... and Daniel and I couldn't get enough of how much fun we had, despite the hard work.
so.much.laughing this weekend!
Because we didn't get enough sun on Saturday, we decided we had to go to the pool on Sunday... this time with Nana & Papa!

E&S... Sydney can't handle life with two shoes on, ever.

I can't even.

goldfish time!

we can do "cheers!" anytime - even with our snack containers
What a fun weekend... so many good memories, and plenty of exhaustion :)
