Kicking off year #2 in a pandemic... 2021

We wrapped up what we thought was a crazy year, 2020, hoping that 2021 would be different.  I hate to say it, but it really wasn't any different.  Same pandemic, same crazy political climate.  It was heavy.  But alas, here we go...

Ella decided to run an errand with me.  She got dressed from head to toe all by herself

We played skee ball on the nugget.  Real talk: it was actually a disaster
January 2021: setting out masks to dry while wearing earmuffs

The girls got the game "Outfoxed" for Christmas... and it's surprisingly fun for everyone

Ella was a horsey, complete with a tutu collar

Ella is ready to take her baby out for a bike ride at dusk

The girls loved watching "The Floor is Lava" and subsequently playing it over and over

The 2020 presidential election was... a disaster.  Ultimately, Joe Biden won, but Donald Trump didn't allow that to happen respectfully.  He claimed fraud, and on January 6th led an insurrection on the capitol.  It was.... horrifying.  Truly unbelievable.  But, in the end, the electors certified the votes and then Joe Biden was inaugurated.  This was a time in our home in which we had a lot of conversations about kindness and respect and how we treat people.  Truly, it doesn't matter what kind of power you have, but you cannot treat people the way in which Donald Trump treats/mocks/acts.  We will not accept it and will not support it.  For us, it's not a political party issue, it's a human being issue.

So here we are.  We support the good people.

And the absolute most poised and amazing girl read her own poetry at the inauguration, and it was incredible.  She has a speech impediment, and she's a twin!  I hope I never forget it, and my girls watch it and always think how amazing it was.

they dressed themselves, and are all ready to celebrate cousin Kinley turning ONE!

cozy and clean

hot chocolate bombs

I can't even remember what we were waiting for, but they buckled in all their babes into the carseats

Ella was doing her homework, and took off her headband and said "Momma this thing is locking up my brain so nothing will come out" - haha!

Ella always does this at the dentist and I love it.

I received this email from the girls' Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Evers.  The girls are in separate classes.  They really don't interact due to COVID restrictions, even at lunch/recess.  As you can see from what Ms. Evers said, they chose to write about the same prompt, used nearly identical language/misspellings, and their pictures were eerily similar.  I say it a lot, but this is proof - having twins is one of the coolest science experiments in the whole world.  Daniel and I are constantly in awe of the front row seat we are privileged to have.

snuggle squad

welcome to our life, where our world revolves around our sweet girls
One of the best things is when it snows!!  It's getting easier to manage getting these two bundled off, and we can send them out to play!

there they go... be careful!

catching snowflakes

they LOVE the trampoline in the snow

Do you want to build a snowman?

snow, a brand new porch, and our little ladies - what a beautiful site :)
Our neighbor across the street, Jaxon, turned 8 and invited us to his Clemson-themed rock climbing party.  Ella was really tentative at first, but we are so proud that she persevered and the guy helping really increased her confidence so she was a climbing machine by the end.  Not surprisingly, Sydney figured it out quickly and climbed until her little body was super tired!
had to take the opportunity to take a Clemson pic (and also intentionally throwing up the middle finger to my family in SC :) )

Ella needed some help from Daddy

...they're both off!

Ella watching Sydney and Daniel until she got some confidence

Sydney making it to the top over and over

Sydney eating chicken wings on Super Bowl Sunday is an entire vibe

Get it, girl!

messy and adorable

Super Bowl Sunday at the Couringtons... with our bestie, Daisy

I Chews U

Ella feels a certain way about pictures

We ended up with an ice storm on Valentine's Day.  We are thankful we only lost power for a short while, and did our best to stay warm while also not stir crazy.
going for a Valentine's ice storm walk

....umbrellas for protection from the melting ice

I turned around and saw this...

....feeding each other ice cicles

The ice coating everything looked SO COOL

Not only did everything look cool, it also did some damage.  We found this downed tree on one of our walks

scrubbie pets

we played a new game we got for christmas - it's a toilet that sprays water in your face

and of course they think it's HILARIOUS

we've reached a point in the pandemic where we go hang out at construction sites to get out of the house

a big ole gravel pile is endless fun

all was fun and games on those rocks until Sydney fell and hit her eye, oops

Daddy went snowboarding in Utah, so we had a girls night at Waffle House.  We splurged on OJ

they also tried to sleep with me and it only lasted a few hours

Sydney's friend from school, Britton, was going to come over for a Galentine's Party... we hadn't been awake for long and they had worked hard on putting together a charcuterie board for her

and sweet Ella made me a charcuterie breakfast in bed :)

These two crack me up... we were waiting for Kim & Jeff to get home so they perched right at the end of the street keeping watch

went for a hike with the Eckert's and Ghobrial's!

Daddy is getting all dolled up!

Ella struggles, which means she has some "I'm sorry" notes as a result....

they're just so cute
....and finally, the moment we've all been waiting for, it's finally time to get vaccinated!!
Daniel's vaccine time

so happy post-vaccine

checking out what that silly leprechaun did!

sweet shamrocks

Sydney and her kindergarten bestie, Britton, hanging out on the playground at recess - they're so cute

some twin friends came by for dinner on their way through town

Aunt Kelly had a birthday and everyone helped her with her candles

sweet little Daisy is having a hard time walking, so Ella worked hard at getting her comfy out in the yard

Sydney's new cross-eyed trick is hilarious

getting ready to celebrate Daddy!

happy birthday to our favorite guy

Ella's a whole vibe

....up next, we celebrate two sweet six year olds, finish up Kindergarten, and have an awesome summer spent out in the sun.
