Here we are - the temps are getting cooler, leaves are falling, and as a matter of fact, it's Halloween day, and I'm struggling to post about our fun summer! Nobody is surprised, though...
I did do a much better job of writing down some of the cute things the girls say (*applause*).
Since there's a firestation close to daycare, the girls have lots of conversations at school about firemen/firetrucks/fire safety. I love that instead of saying "stop, drop, and roll" they say "stop, rock and roll" hahahah
The girls have started to try to comfort each other when they're crying, normally by going to get a favorite stuffed animal and handing it to them. It's really awfully sweet. So one day when we were outside playing in the court with our neighbors, Sydney took a spill on the concrete. Ella immediately ran inside yelling "I will get her something to help feel her better, I will get her something to help feel her better" and came out with a bandaid. Plop, heart on the floor in a big ole puddle.
Ella, asks me a question
Me: I don't know
Ella: Well can you try to know?
One morning while I was getting ready for work and putting
on make-up, Sydney comes into my bathroom and says"Oh how amazing!" and I've never felt prettier.
The girls say "bop the horn" instead of "honk the horn". They also call thumbs "stumbs". And most adorably, they call sneezes "bless you". So when they sneeze, they will say "I bless you'd!"
This is such a fun age - and challenging - and cute. My gosh, so bipolar and irrational. But they're fun, and some things are easier like going out in public or interacting with them.

I somehow neglected to post this adorable picture of Sydney from New Year's Day |
They set up their own recital complete with an audience, and when they were done, they would say to us "now you clap" |
An old high school friend of mine is a singer, and came to a local restaurant. We decided to go support her, and Ella and Sydney had the very best time dancing the night away |
You can't get out of Target without spending at least $100..... |
Sydney's in my lap and Ella's sweet hand resting on her back.... |
doing ballet while waiting for gymnastics to start |
and that's a wrap for gymnastics!
everyone had fun, but after a full year, it's time for a change |
medals :) |
Ella can't ever keep her head straight when she gets a hair cut, and Megan always has to set hers on top of Ella's and it's just adorable |

Dear Ella and Sydney: please start doing real dishes. |
One word: happy |
came downstairs after getting myself ready to find two little girls drawing for their daddy who they had put to sleep... hilarious |
best way to get a picture of the gorgeous firefly dresses the girls are wearing for the Firefly Festival |
I stumbled across an ad for the Firefly Festival near Farmville, and thought it would be a fun thing to take the girls to! Daniel begrudgingly obliged with my plans. We decided to make a fun evening out of it - going to Macados for dinner and Sweet Frog for dessert, while waiting for it to get dark over the High Bridge.
Syd and Momma waiting for our dinner to come out |
Firefly dresses, glow sticks, and two cute girls ready to find fireflies |
And of course we have no pictures of the actual thing because it was dark.... but it was really neat! I think Ella and Sydney were a bit too young to really see/appreciate it, but we enjoyed our little adventure!
came into check on the girls and found Ella using Sydney's pet Pebbles as a pillow, and Violet was so sweetly covered up and tucked in |
happy x2 |
We snapped a few pictures for Nana's birthday <3
And then we donated stuffed animals to the local police. They were a little bit sad at first, but I tried really hard to teach them about why we were doing it, and slowly we are working on teaching them kindness to others and why we should do things like donate what we have. It's a work in progress, but we are getting there, now that they are starting to be old enough to try to understand :)
Then I dropped the girls off for some QT with Nana, while I took Daniel to get snipped ;)
Thankfully, we had pre-arranged a sleepover because Daniel's surgery didn't exactly go as planned. It took MUCH longer than anticipated (and honestly I didn't really notice because I was trying to spend some time
updating this bad boy), but a doctor called me into a conference room when I was starting to worry to explain to me what happened. So basically, you're supposed to have two "vas deferens" (those are the tubs they snip), and after they did the first one, they couldn't find his second one. They knocked him out and did some exploratory work (aka very painful). Obviously, we don't want them to just shrug their shoulders and say "hope he only has one!" and we find out via a surprise baby that wasn't the case. So yes, they think he only has one (turns out his dad only had one!), but his recovery was MUCH MUCH more painful than anticipated. He's all fine and healed now, and we have confirmation the surgery was a success. Woohoo for this next phase of life!
The next day, I went and picked up the girls from Nana's house and took them to a birthday party.
look at these cute things! |
And the next day, we went to the movies to spend some more time out of the house so Daddy could recover.
we saw Aladdin with Jacob and Aunt Ashley |
And listened to squealing of two girls running through the sprinkler
"slime!" |
off to celebrate Uncle Mop's graduation! |
we showed up at the party, and Aunt Kelly surprised us with new dresses she made |
girl cousins |
just picked some green beans they grew themselves! |
We decided to give gymnastics a break and tried out a summer dance class for our little ballerinas. They seem to really like it! We are doing it with our friends, the Eckert's... and if anything, we love to sit in the lobby and catch up with Katie and Darryl.
look at those sweet little ballerinas |

Syd's got some air |

headed to get loaded up for a taco dinner |

we dropped off the ladies and went to get burgers and desserts with Kim + Jeff |

I mean, just look at those pool babes. Flamingo bathing suits, flamingo sunglasses, and flip flops (their first pair!) |
R2D2 swimsuits and super soakers for Seth's birthday |

I found really, really pretty 4th of July dresses, swoon :)
love these two firecrackers |
I mean, would you look at Ella's eye protection and concentration |
just pure bliss :) |
We had SO much fun out on the river on Bob's boat.
and look at Miss Ella who fell asleep on the boat ride back home |
Syd loved hanging out with Grandma |
My mom had a sweet little sick Sydney one day and took her through the car wash. Ever since then, they have really wanted to go through a car wash, and we did. I've done a phone cleanout and the videos are now on our home computer, but I recorded their reaction, and it was the most adorable thing ever. Amazing how such little, insignificant things can make these girls so happy. Reminder: stop and smell the roses (or in this case, stop and go through a carwash and squeal out loud!).
one of my most favorite places to be |
triplet ballerinas after dance class getting tacos |
We had our annual Siblings Weekend celebrating Mr. Sink's birthday. We had a gorgeous day at the pool followed by a fancy adult-only dinner at the Melting Pot. One of my most favorite traditions!
my very own float chauffeur in the baby pool |
such a fun evening with the Sink people we all love! |
So the girls say the funniest things, and it's worth noting and saving forever because it's hilarious.
Ella picked up a pool-toy-octopus at Seth's birthday party and called it "octopussy" over and over and over. Ya'll - we were dying. And obviously, you just can't correct her because it's too funny.
Then, daycare had items on their curriculum about buildings and how they're made and blah blah. Ella and Sydney were talking about buildings being made out of "semen" (yes, semen, not cement). I mean, I hear them in the other room just casually talking about semen, clearly in regards to building a building. My mom is privy to all this information, thankfully. So then, while my mom has the girls during our adult-sibling-dinner, she texts me this....
i am dead |
another triplet ballerina taco date, this time with sunglasses |
"Momma, I found this new dress and dressed myself" - Sydney |
Then we dropped the girls off for a second weekend in a row to head up north to celebrate Susan and Dan! We couldn't be happier for them as they begin their happily ever after.
we checked in early to lay in bed and watch TV in silence |
the venue was beautiful, and the weather was about 150 degrees |
so, so happy for these two! |
And they put on quite the party! We had the best time.
OG marriage |
sweet little chickens |
heading off to celebrate Jacob's 5th birthday |
To be completely transparent, I was a little skeptical of the Tae Kwon Do party... mainly because we have no experience with Tae Kwon Do, and I was worried about what we'd do for a "party". But it was amazing! The instructors were awesome, they did a lesson, had pizza, and celebrated Jacob with a bounce house! We had a great time, and I just can't believe that Jacob is already FIVE.
Another lazy day out on Mr Bob Bob's boat.
and this sweet girl Ella fell asleep on me AGAIN. Happy, happy momma right here |
And Sydney had the best time snuggled up on Grandma checking out the clouds |
Ella's hand around Matthew's neck... |
Going to bed sometimes sucks. When they get up six zillion times and need ridiculous things... please note Ella with the potty seat and Sydney creeping from their bathroom. Seriously - just go to bed. |
We had a taco dinner guest... Dalton! This is the Chester Crew 2.0 |
We had to make it to a Squirrels game before the summer was over. Grandma spoiled the girls rotten, and we ended the night with two little girls completely ENTHRALLED over the fireworks.
cotton candy the size of their heads |
they wanted so bad to get a picture with Nutzy, but he was busy! So we had to settle for this... |
can you just feel the magic she feels!? |
and from Sydney, too!? |
she walked in the room to serve a slice of pizza and was as serious as she could be, and I laughed out loud. |
The entire family (kiddos included) were invited to celebrate Amanda Lane and Kaleb Moreau. It was fun having everyone dressed up and dancing (but damn, so much work, I'm still exhausted). The band was absolutely incredible, and the Carpenter Theatre was such a cool venue. Ella and Sydney legitimately thought Amanda was a princess. Sydney whispered in my ear "there's a beautiful princess" when she walked down the aisle and Ella told me the next day her favorite part of the wedding was seeing the princess.
so much dancing, so much fun! |
Nana and Papa were having the time of their lives |
their very own prince charming spinning them right into the night |
Ella was getting her peepers checked - still doing great! |
For a birthday gift, Lorri gave the girls tickets to the local children's theater. We dressed them up, took them out to eat, and saw the cutest little play.
aren't they just the prettiest? |
they got to meet the cast :) |
Ella wasn't cooperating, so just me and Syd |
and there we go, both of my girls <3 |
We wore adorable chicken tops, so I had to document |
someone needed some extra love, so I had this snuggle bug while I watched TV and waited for Daniel to come home from his dinner out |
we went on a fun trail walk through Point of Rocks park |
pajama day |
I zipped up and met Robin for melted cheese and chocolate and a good catch up sesh |
Kristen (Miles) and the family came through on their way to the beach and gave the girls Target gift cards. I took them to spend money on essentials for the beach |
Ella is all ready for Water Country (and so is her cow) |
Ella is always carrying around a stuffed animal... tucking them into bed... taking them to school. She crawled up into my bed to rock her giraffe to sleep, and I had to snap a picture because this special giraffe was given to us by my sister right when we found out we were pregnant with our sweet Baby Sink. |
And that's a wrap for the summer, folks! Next up: Trevillian/Overstreet/Sink beach week in Corolla.
