Christmastime with three year olds

Something I love so much about this age and our girls is that they get SO PUMPED about things.  They really, really loved Christmas this year, and were totally into Santa.  The whole season was pretty awesome.

getting ready to go see our FIRST ever movie - the "new" Grinch (they've been loving the "old" Jim Carey Grinch)

popcorn and a bathroom break before it started!
They did SO good!  Aside from not being quite heavy enough to keep the seats down, they LOVED the whole experience!
time to decorate their own little tree

This was a terrible acorn year, and Daniel has been working hard on the lawn, so he spent a ton of time picking up leaves and acorns.  Ella and Sydney loved jumping in the huge pile of leaves :)

cozy sweaters, leggings, boots... all American basic girls

I walked into the room and spotted Ella holding onto Sydney

two peas in a pod (and that's Pebbles the dog hanging out with them)
We were hanging out at the house, and Ella randomly walked by me and said "Happy Holidays, Momma!" and went on with her day... haha!

Pugs and Kisses
Daniel was out of town for a hockey game, so I managed to take E&S to Chesapeake for Emmett's birthday party solo (go me).  Everyone did great (and I'm pretty thankful for DVD players in cars).
On the way home, we decided to swing by Boulevard Flowers for an arrangement for my Granma's birthday dinner.  We were checking out and Ella said "hey, there's Santa!" - and whaddya know - there was the big guy himself.  Ella walked right up and sat next to him, Sydney wasn't quite so sure.  So Santa bribed her with a candy cane.

Hi, Santa!

the most adorable little ladies ready for Grandma Georgia's Annual Christmas Open House

they were so cute looking in the mirror and getting ready

dem curls (and all the heart eyes)

Santa and a tutu dress... they can't ask for anything else

Momma matched, too!
Then it was time for our annual Christmas tree adventure!

they loved every minute of running around and through the trees... we finally settled on the perfect tree!

peek-a-boo...

...there's two!
And each year on our Christmas Tree night, I have their new Christmas PJs and books ready to go.  Loved these sweet nightgowns (and they were HUGE, so we will be wearing for a few Christmases to come)

reading The Grinch... perfect book for 2019 to match their first ever movie theater experience

ready to decorate gingerbread houses at Papa's work

and they requested a picture with Pebbles

it was too chaotic with two three year olds + gingerbread house making for a decent picture
We left the girls with Nana and Papa and headed to Short Pump for an overnight shopping extravaganza for my birthday.

We had so much fun Santa shopping for the girls.  We took our time, ate good food, and crashed at the hotel.  Unfortunately, an unexpected snow storm started earlier than planned, and we had to get up and head home to our girls.

perfect birthday view :)

second year in a row I had snow on my birthday!

sweet snow babies bundled up!

seriously, what more could a birthday girl ask for!?

Hi Syd!

our second Baby Sink Tree didn't live either... so I had to capture it one last time with snow on it (and you can't tell it's dead), looking so pretty for Christmastime

walked down to find Ella snuggled up on the basket of blankets

SO much happy outside in the snow!

They called for 4" and we ended up with 14"!

I always check on the girls when I come up for bed.  Ella is going to make such a great momma one day... she had tucked in her teddy bear, is sharing the blanket, and sacrificed the pillow

everyone needs naked moral support while going to the bathroom
We were in the car coming home from school one day and Ella asked me a question to which I replied "I don't know, Ella".  She immediately responded with "Well, can you try to know???"
hahahah

at the Martin Christmas party with my love :)

...while Ella and Sydney enjoyed time with Nana and Papa
I found these adorable Pug Life shirts, so we snuck over to Kim and Jeff's while they were out to take a picture for a Christmas gift

We were on the way to Kroger (all four of us) and the girls were fighting because they kept talking over each other.  It's kind of a big problem - they start crying and yelling at each other that "she's not letting me talk!!".  Anyway, Sydney spoke up and said "Hey, I have an idea.  I can go inside the store with Daddy and Ella can stay in the car".
Girl's gotta point.

pretty girls at Grandma's house
It was time for our official visit with the big guy!
"da Grinch!!!!!"

the Snow Queen gave Ella and Sydney special snowflake ornaments

I don't know if you can tell in the picture, but Ella is literally jumping up and down

Santa is reminding them to be good little girls.  They told him they wanted presents for Christmas.

Grandma wanted to come see Ella and Sydney with Santa, and she was running a bit behind.  But that worked out for the best because the coolest thing happened.... we kept letting people go in front of us until we were the back of the line until Santa had to go on a milk + cookies break.  Because we were the last in line, these two got to sneak into his chair when he went back up the chimney.  What a fun memory!

shhh... don't tell Santa we got into his chair!
After we told the big guy we wanted "presents" for Christmas, we snuck on over to the James Center to look at all the "yights!!!"
happy, happy

we loooove Grandma Georgia

such a fun evening!

Dear Santa, My Sister Did It

pajama day for gymnastics class.... don't let the words fool you, they flip flop ALL.THE.TIME

another pajama day... this time was for school... they loved not having to wake up and get changed

fresh outta the tub and making Christmas cookies to share at Evelyn's birthday party

sweet girls celebrating our friend Evelyn

they found a play camera and started taking pictures of each other and it was hilarious
(this also prompted Santa to find a camera for a Christmas gift!)

this awesome daddy right here.... he went to Target and got them a few Christmas crafts!

we decided to dress up and take the girls out to dinner (Japanese with fire and all!) and look at Christmas lights!  They really enjoyed putting on pretty dresses, ballerina shoes, and tights!
found an old friend in the restaurant
SANTA!  I know him..

twirling...

.... all day long!

decorating Christmas cookies to leave out for Santa

celebrating our annual Engagement-versary on Christmas Adam at Bonefish... hard to believe it's been 10 years since he got down on one knee, and so, so glad he did!
And we blinked and it was Christmas Eve!  We invited the Couringtons over for brunch.  Before we had breakfast, the Princess Anna and Queen Elsa got to open their Christmas Eve gift.

mermaids and bathtub finger paint!

Kim and Jeff brought gifts... and how fitting, a Frozen book

and you can't bring over a book without reading it aloud!

a little post-naptime cuddle session with a Christmas movie and fire

Their dresses say "joy" and it couldn't be a more perfect word!  These two bring us such immense joy.

peeking under the tree!

we had a HUGE present to open at Nana and Papa's

the best we could snap with Great Granma Fails
After spending Christmas Eve with our families, we headed home to get on pajamas and read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

and while our sweet angels had visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads, some of Santa's favorite helpers came over to put together the magic!

and two more!!
seriously, this is probably one of the coolest things we do, and I love it
Then it was time to wake up to see what came!  Daniel was so pumped to see their faces in the morning, and unfortunately Ella snuck downstairs to take a peek really quick.  Daniel was SO SAD!  We had no idea she was going to do that.... but he quickly got over it and we enjoyed a morning squealing and unwrapping gifts and playing!  I will say that one of the best parts of this Christmas was shopping for gifts for our three year olds... it was kind of like re-living my childhood.  I REALLY enjoyed it!!

Santa brought make-up!
(100000% fake)

Ella is taking pictures of their new "dogs" and Sydney zoomed around the house on her scooter

Doing Daddy's nails

"DA GRINCH!!"

pretty girls ready to keep celebrating all day long!

showing the Couringtons our new scooters!

Blakely sat so still while Ella did her make-up and it was adorable

Sink clan!

Merry Christmas from us
So apparently I got zero pictures from my mom's house... whoops

snuggle sesh

we snuck in a quick donut date before school, and made sure to pick up some for teachers and police officers

family movie night... with the creepy Elsa doll, too.

doing a little post-Christmas shopping

they insisted on heart socks even though we were going to Grandma Stella's to celebrate Christmas
I mean, when Christmas is over, it's over.

it's bowl game day!

I mean, was the make-up a hit, or was it a hit?!

And on New Year's night, we ordered pizza and Ella and Sydney giggled themselves to sleep... see ya, 2018!
