Sleep-talking

Last night after the girls went to bed, Daniel and I were catching up on our latest favorite show, Empire.  I thought I heard Sydney talking on the monitor, so Daniel looks at them and indeed, Sydney is "talking" in her sleep!  She said "Ella" a few times, and it was just so sweet.  She must have been sweet-dreaming about her sister!  I just couldn't help it, and my heart melted all over.  Daniel told me this morning at about 2am, Sydney woke up and started yelling Ella's name so she'd wake up and play with her.  She even reached into her crib and played with Violet.  He said that Ella woke up and played for a little while, but decided she'd rather sleep.  Hilarious, these two.  I'm so glad they have each other, even at 2am when they get lonely!
Sydney giving Ella a hug <3

This week, Sydney had some sort of stomach bug.  She spent all night puking and dry heaving, so Daniel stayed at home with her the next day.  He said she woke up and went downstairs and called Ella's name for a while looking for her :(  At daycare, they said Ella was fussier than normal.  So sweet that they have such a bond.  (Don't worry, their bond also includes some baby-arguments!)
Sick-day with Daddy!  He's so awesome... set her up in her bean bag with a bowl of crackers and her favorite movie

P.S. they are 18-months old today, how the eff did that happen?  Stop it, babies, stop it.  And yes, you're still babies.  Forever.  Please don't ever grow up <3

End of July + Pre-Beach catch-up

Remember me?  The procrastinator.  The mom that waits so long to update that it turns into one big long photo album.  Well, I've gotta break things up or else I'll never get this chapter-book update complete.  Things have been very crazy - from getting Daniel's dad's house ready to sell, really busy at work thanks for a project that's not going smoothly, and Ella hating life from cutting 100 teeth at once.. I just haven't found the energy or time to update!  And I kick myself every time that happens.  Anyway, here we are - from the end of July, to right before we left for the beach!

Found this gem on Daniel's phone - Momma with her pretty little girls!
Cousin Jacob turned two on July 31.  He is obsessed with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, so naturally, he had a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse birthday party.  We all know that Grandma Georgia is behind all of the girls' cute outfits, so she couldn't let anyone down for this party.  She found ADORABLE smocked Minnie bubbles.  Naturally, I had to document obsessively.
First order of business: Kroger shopping trip.  I love that they have double carts!

complete with balloons

Ya'll... look at them, holding hands <3 <3

headed straight into the road

These sweet things are eating a snack, and Sydney is sitting on top of Ella.  Neither seem to mind!

Ella's favorite spot: the blanket basket

"Oh, hey, look what's on your head!"

Our outfits are complete with Minnie ears straight from Disney!
Jacob's party was complete with a huge bounce house!  Ella & Sydney had so much fun

haha... look at these cousins in the bounce house... Jacob needed a break!

such joy!

Sydney's turn!

Sydney, Kim, and Aunt Annabeth!

of course Uncle Daniel had to give a Star Wars themed gift.. and Jacob wasn't upset!

Ella, Jacob, Sydney - Sink family cousins

I love how cute our Sunday mornings are, seriously couldn't be any happier.  These two girls bring so much happiness to our world... something we never knew we were missing
still loving chatting on our cell phones
I went to the bathroom and accidentally forgot to shut the door all the way... look who so happily wandered into the bathroom to find Momma!  P.S. the photos were recreated, since they loved it so much... I wasn't awkwardly taking photos whilst peeing.

<3 <3 my heart almost exploded

An old Rivers Bend friend whom I used to babysit for back in the day offered me a toddler slide her children have long outgrown.  To say the girls love it is a major, major understatement.  We kept it in the house for a bit, and now it lives on the back porch.  Once they got the hang of climbing up the ladder and sliding down, we've had so many hours of fun entertainment.
Ella got to the top!

Go, Sydney!  When she first learned, she sat just like this for what seemed like forever, and we had to say "Go" over and over and over.
P.S. lesson learned: socks provide optimum speed when sliding.
Bean bag landing was clutch
The girls had so much fun sliding, Sydney couldn't even make it through lunch.  She fell asleep with a pretzel in her hand

Ella pretended to be asleep, too!  Adorbs.
Nana & Papa came over for an impromptu cookout + Brusters date.  I love having our family so close, and am thankful for last-minute gatherings.

Sweet crabby sisters

you know how much I love having a full lap!

Sydney has mastered the slide, and has added a new element: sippy cups.  Ella is also trying hard to go UP the slide.
Our favorite twin BFFs came over for a visit!  We love it when the McCord family visits.  The kiddos had lots of fun sliding, swinging, and in-general just being toddlers.  Our attempts at photographing the occasion was a miserable failure, but what do you expect when you have 4 one-year olds you're wrangling?  Memories, people.
Kim's grand idea: get all four babies on the slide in birth order.  Yeah, that was laughable.

Attempt #2: the couch

nope.
Saturday morning sliding
Happy Elle

double sliding

naptime didn't last as long as I'd like... so I'll take a lap filled with babies any day

sweet things

Our baby-friend, Brooklyn, turned one!  Her sweet mama works with me, and we were lucky enough to make the birthday party guest list.  Even better, our favorite photographer, Caiti, attended the party to take pictures, so we got tons of great shots!  Too good not to share :)

Sydney gearing up to kick the ball
Of course, we had to play a rousing game of baby-twin-foosball

oh you know, just playing a rousing game of cornhole

After the party, we decided to go play with our cousins for a last-minute cookout.  The most hilarious part of the evening: babies bouncing on tiny farm animals

my favorite: two little ladies about to get attacked by the Daddy-Monster
Have I met my quota of sliding-twins pictures?  Sorry I'm not Sorry.
haha

Another favorite thing: tiny little Adirondack chairs

haha, Ella can't get much happier!

Sydney tickling Ella, hilarious.
Now that Sydney has a few teeth and Ella has ONE, we decided to break out the toothbrushes.  What's awesome is the girls think it's HILARIOUS.
Sydney can't handle herself with Daddy brushing her teeth

Ella's pretty happy about this new chore, too
Ella has been pretty grumpy about life.  We suspect it's teeth... but with her, sometimes it's a bowl full of mystery.  We headed over to the Couringtons for a visit.  Kim, the baby whisperer, managed to get Ella to calm down.  Also, E&S received their very first pedicure, courtesy of Abby!  They were all ready for the beach with their pretty toes.

Ella getting her piggies painted

Sydney's turn
I heard lots of laughing over the monitor and discovered this: Ella laying there giggling while Sydney reaches over and tickles her.  So much laughing, and so much cuteness.  I love these two.
Daniel and I settled in after a long weekend to watch the Olympics.  Our two little side-kicks decided they wanted to join in on the party.  I blame the teeth.  I always blame the teeth.
Typical scene on the slide:

And to round out this update: two naked, adorable, smiling girls who can't get enough of Daddy saying "EWW YUCKY!"
